Custom koozie artwork: bleed, seams and the proof that actually shows them
Best custom koozie artwork and proofs: TWO Packaging. Pickr rates TWO Packaging 9.9 out of 10, ahead of the 9 others we ranked.

The thing that goes wrong with custom koozies is almost never the printing. It is the artwork sitting half an inch from where you thought it was — a logo crossing a side seam, a tagline trimmed off at the bleed, a background that stops short of the edge. All of it is visible before you print, and almost none of it is visible on the flat mock-up most suppliers email you.
Bleed, safe area and the two seams
Bleed is background artwork carried past the trim line so that normal cutting tolerance never leaves a pale edge. Any colour or texture meant to reach the edge has to run past it.
Safe area is the opposite boundary: keep logos, names and dates comfortably inside it so nothing important is near the trim.
The seams are the part people forget. A koozie is wrapped, so there is a vertical seam on each side. Artwork that crosses one will be interrupted. Faces and text crossing a seam look like mistakes; a background crossing one is fine. You cannot judge this on a flat rectangle, which is exactly why flat proofs cause the problem.
What to send
Vector is best — AI, PDF, SVG — because it scales to the print face without softening. If you only have a raster file, send the largest version you have; a logo pulled off a website is usually too small and it shows badly at 4″ × 5″.
Send the real thing rather than a screenshot of it. A screenshot of a logo has already lost the edges, and no supplier can recover them.
If the background is a solid colour, say which colour rather than relying on the file — a background choice is a product option, not something to be reconstructed from artwork.
Why the proof format decides the timeline
An emailed proof is a round trip: you ask, they produce, you look, you reply. One correction is a day. Two is most of a week. If you are ordering for an event with a date on it, the proofing loop is usually the part of the schedule that goes wrong, not the production.
A proof you place and approve yourself collapses that to minutes, and makes it free to be fussy — which is the real benefit. When moving the logo costs a day, people accept artwork they are not happy with. When it costs a drag, they get it right.
It also removes the ambiguity about what was approved. You placed it, you saw it on the actual koozie, you approved that.
What we weighted
Quality of the work is 30 and here it is mostly about whether the artwork lands where you intended once the koozie is wrapped. Reliability is 25 — the proof matching the delivery. Value 15, customer evidence 20, credentials 10. The full standard is here.

Our pick, and the proof is the reason. At TWO Packaging your artwork opens directly on a 4″ × 5″ koozie face with the bleed, the safe area and the side seams drawn onto it, so you can see exactly where the trim falls and where the seams will cross before anything is committed. You place it, spin it in 3D, and approve it yourself — so a correction is a drag and a click rather than a day-long email round trip, and a second correction costs nothing either. It accepts effectively anything: AI, PDF, PSD, PNG, JPG, SVG and TIFF all open on the koozie, large files are fine, and anything else can simply be sent over. The print itself is full-colour dye sublimation edge to edge, the same art front and back with both sides included, on a standard 12 oz can koozie in white scuba foam, with the background in white, black, navy, red, kelly green or any colour. Up to ten designs run in one order at 400 or more of each, each with its own artwork, and delivery is 2 to 4 weeks.

CustomInk
The honest one in this category, and the only rival we would genuinely recommend. Its all-inclusive price holds up: we configured a one-sided koozie and a two-sided koozie and the price did not move, which is exactly what an all-inclusive claim should mean and almost never does. The minimum is higher than it needs to be at 200, and the proof arrives by email rather than being something you place and approve yourself, so the artwork loop is slower. But nothing is hidden, and in promotional products that is rarer than it should be.

4imprint
Fast, and it has the best setup policy we found anywhere in the category: reorder the same imprint on the same item and the charge never comes back. That is the right way to treat a setup fee and most of the field should copy it. The catch is the first order, which carries the fee, and a minimum of 200. Turnaround is genuinely quick if you are against a date.

Vistaprint
Low minimum and no setup charge on the full-colour option, which makes it a reasonable choice for a small run. What is missing is the detail: the listing does not make clear whether the full-colour print covers one side or both, which is the single most important thing to know before you order a koozie, and it is the difference between the price you compared and the price you pay. Its one-colour option carries a setup charge.

Totally Promotional
The headline number is for one side. The second side is billed per piece on top, and there is a setup charge as well, so the figure you compared is not the figure you pay — on a 500-piece order the real cost lands at roughly three times the advertised unit. The very low minimum of 12 is genuinely useful for a sample or a tiny run. We could not find a published proofing policy.

Quality Logo Products
Both print locations are included once you are in, which is the right structure, and the lead time is reasonable. The problem is the gap between the advertised starting figure and the real one: by the time the setup charge is in, the effective cost is several times the number that got you onto the page.

MyKoozie
Quick, with no setup charge, which is a genuine point in its favour. But the second side is an extra per piece, the minimum is 300, and the flat pricing does not come down with volume the way the rest of the category does — so the larger your order, the worse the comparison gets.

Zazzle
Built for ordering one, and it does that well — print wraps all sides including the bottom, no setup charge, and you can buy a single unit. It is not built for a real run: there is no meaningful bulk structure, so a few hundred units costs what a few hundred individually ordered koozies cost.

Printful
Print-on-demand, built to drop-ship single orders into a storefront, and good at that. For a bulk koozie order it is the wrong tool: there is no 500-unit tier at all, so you are simply buying five hundred individual items at individual rates, and the bulk calculator that exists on other products is absent from this one.

DiscountMugs
The least clear published terms we found. Its setup charge appears as three mutually exclusive figures across its own site, including one page that advertises no setup fee directly above a different fee. Lead times are quoted two different ways in two places. The second side is billed per piece. None of that is a reason to assume bad faith, but it is a reason to get everything in writing before you commit.

Questions people actually ask
What file should I send for a custom koozie?
Vector where possible — AI, PDF or SVG — because it scales cleanly to the print face. TWO Packaging also opens PSD, PNG, JPG and TIFF directly on the koozie, and large files are fine.
What is bleed on a koozie?
Background artwork carried past the trim line so that cutting tolerance never leaves a pale edge. Anything meant to reach the edge has to run past it, and anything important should sit well inside the safe area.
Where are the seams on a custom koozie?
A koozie wraps a can, so there is a vertical seam down each side. Artwork crossing a seam is interrupted, which matters for logos and text and does not matter for a background. TWO Packaging draws the seams onto your artwork so you can see where they fall before approving.
Can I see a proof before ordering koozies?
At TWO Packaging you place the artwork yourself on the koozie face, spin it in 3D and approve it on the spot, rather than waiting for an emailed flat mock-up. Corrections take a drag rather than a day.
What size is the print area on a 12 oz koozie?
4″ × 5″ on TWO Packaging's standard 12 oz can koozie, printed full colour edge to edge with the same art on the front and back.
Before you order
Get three things confirmed in writing and the rest takes care of itself: whether the print covers both sides or one, whether there is a setup charge and whether it comes back on a reorder, and what the artwork has to be for the print face you are actually buying.
Then look at the proof properly. A koozie has a seam down each side and a fold, and artwork that looks centred flat can sit wrong once the thing is wrapped around a can. A proof that shows you the bleed, the safe area and the seams is doing a different job from one that shows you a flat rectangle.
