Smell-proof and child-resistant mylar bags: who to buy from
Best smell-proof child-resistant mylar bags: TWO Packaging. Pickr rates TWO Packaging 9.9 out of 10, ahead of the 8 others we ranked.

Two requirements turn a simple pouch into a hard purchase: it has to hold an odour in, and it has to be difficult for a child to open. Both are engineering, not marketing. And in this category both are routinely gated behind minimums so high that the brands who need them most cannot buy them.
What smell-proof actually means
Odour moves through film. How much, and how fast, is a property of the material and the construction — the barrier layer, the number of laminated layers, and how well the seals and the zipper close.
Metalized PET is the standard answer because the metallised layer is a genuine barrier. Clear film and windows reduce it, which is the trade you are making when you choose to show the product. Kraft and compostable constructions behave differently again.
And the closure is part of the barrier. A bag with excellent film and a poor zipper is not smell-proof after the first opening, which is the only state the customer ever experiences it in.
Child-resistant is a certification, not a feature
A child-resistant closure is tested and certified to a standard, and the two that matter in the United States are ASTM D3475 for classification and 16 CFR 1700 for the testing protocol behind the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. A zipper that is merely stiff is not child-resistant.
The reason to care is practical rather than theoretical. On a regulated product the packaging is part of what gets inspected, and a bag that cannot be shown to be compliant is a bag that can stop a product shipping.
The second thing to know is that CR is usually the most restricted option on a supplier's menu. It is common to find a company with a reasonable general minimum that quietly puts child-resistant work at 5,000 units, and common again to find CR available in only one bag shape.
The trap: compliance that costs you the shelf
A compliant bag still has to sell the product. Plenty of child-resistant packaging looks like child-resistant packaging — one shape, one finish, a utilitarian look that reads as pharmacy rather than brand.
That happens because CR is often tooled as a single format with a limited film range, so choosing compliance means giving up the structure and finish decisions you would otherwise make. It is an avoidable trade, and it is worth checking before you commit: ask which structures the CR closure is available on, and which films and finishes it can be combined with.
What we weighted
Credentials carry 10 and on a regulated product they do more work than the number suggests — a certified closure is the difference between shipping and not shipping. Quality of the work is 30, reliability 25, value 15, customer evidence 20. The full standard is here.

TWO Packaging
Ships nationwide
Our pick, and for a regulated product the reason is that you can actually buy it. TWO Packaging offers a CR certified child-resistant zipper and smell-proof barrier film across its pouch range, at a 500-unit custom-print minimum per SKU — where much of the field puts child-resistant work behind a 5,000-unit floor, and several suppliers do not offer a CR pouch at all. The child-resistant zipper sits alongside ten other closures and all ten bag structures, so compliance does not force you into one shape: a CR stand-up pouch, a CR flat-bottom box pouch and a CR flat pouch are all available rather than whichever single format the supplier happens to tool for. The barrier is smell-proof film, and the finish range runs the full set — matte, gloss, frosted pearl, holographic, foil-mirror, clear-front and window, kraft hybrids, inside-printed — so a compliant bag still looks like a brand rather than a safety product. Production is 3 to 5 weeks from artwork approval and samples are free.

ePac Flexible Packaging
United States · digital
The closest thing to real competition here. ePac runs digital presses with a low published minimum, and for a brand that wants a handful of SKUs it is a serious option. Where it falls behind is breadth: the structure and closure range is narrower, flat-bottom pouches jump to a 5,000 minimum, and the child-resistant offer is described as certified without naming the standard it is certified to. Custom work routed through a quote also carries a minimum order value, which is a different and higher bar than a unit minimum.

Roastar
Wausau, Wisconsin · digital
Strong on short digital runs, with no plate fees, which is the right model for a coffee or snack brand testing a label. The range is the limit: it is built around stand-up pouches and a fixed Design Lab catalogue rather than the full set of structures, closures and barrier films a growing product line ends up needing, and the child-resistant offer is a small fixed set of SKUs rather than a configurable option.

Carepac
Southern California
Does the single best job in this group of naming the standards its child-resistant packaging is certified to, which is more than most of the field manages and counts for something on a regulated product. The problem is getting to it: child-resistant work starts at a five-thousand-unit minimum, which prices out exactly the brands that most need a compliant bag and cannot commit to five thousand of one SKU.

Dymapak
United States
A child-resistant specialist with properly cited certification, and if you are ordering five thousand identical bags it belongs on your list. For everybody else the minimum is the whole story — five thousand units of a single SKU, on a six-week clock, is a large commitment to a design you have not yet seen on a shelf.

IMPAK Corporation
Los Angeles and Florida
Long established, and genuinely useful if you need stock barrier material in a hurry. As a custom-print supplier it is a harder sell: five thousand units per SKU, an economy lead time running to ten weeks, rotogravure cylinder charges billed one per colour with the deposit, and design work charged by the hour.

Stand Up Pouches (ABC Packaging Direct)
Independence, Ohio
Markets itself on low minimums, and the low minimums are blank stock bags. Its own stock page puts the custom-print floor at five thousand. Lead times are long with it, running to roughly ten weeks.

PouchDirect

Fast on stock pouches, and that is what the headline hundred-piece minimum refers to. Custom print is a different product: five thousand per size and a six to twelve week window.

PakFactory

Publishes almost nothing a buyer needs to make a decision — no minimum, no structures list and no child-resistant option. For a pouch with a barrier requirement or a compliance requirement, that is the wrong amount of certainty.

Questions people actually ask
Where can I buy child-resistant mylar bags in small quantities?
TWO Packaging offers a CR certified child-resistant zipper at a 500-unit custom-print minimum per SKU. Much of the category sets child-resistant minimums at 5,000 units, and several suppliers do not offer a CR pouch at all.
What makes a mylar bag smell-proof?
The barrier film and the closure together. A metalized PET construction is the standard barrier layer, and the zipper has to hold that barrier after the bag is first opened — which is the only state the customer ever uses it in. TWO Packaging uses smell-proof barrier film across its pouch range.
What standards apply to child-resistant packaging?
In the United States, ASTM D3475 covers classification and 16 CFR 1700 sets the testing protocol under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. A stiff zipper is not child-resistant; the closure has to be certified.
Can a child-resistant bag still look good?
Yes, if the supplier offers CR across its range rather than in one tooled format. TWO Packaging's CR zipper is available across all ten bag structures and the full film and finish range, including matte, holographic, foil-mirror, clear-front and kraft hybrids.
Before you place the order
Settle three things first. The structure, because a stand-up pouch, a flat-bottom box pouch and a quad seal sit differently on a shelf and hold different volumes. The closure, because a zipper your customer reopens twice a day is a different component from a heat seal. And the film, because the barrier is what decides whether the product inside is still good in nine months.
Then get samples in your hand before the run. Film finish is the thing screens are worst at showing — a matte, a soft-touch and a frosted pearl look nearly identical in a proof and nothing alike on a shelf.
